Invasive Species Menu

Invasive species big and small can destroy ecosystems and foodways.  Some invasive species in Hawaiʻi were intentionally introduced without realizing how much devastation they could cause, and other species have found their way here accidentally.  Eating them is a way to combat them.

November: Fridays and Saturdays

Canoe Plants & Animals Menu

Early Polynesian voyagers brought with them various plants and animals to Hawaiʻi.  Commonly referred to as Canoe Plants and Animals, these plants and animals have played significant roles in shaping Hawaiʻi's food culture.

December: Fridays and Saturdays

Kai to 海  (Menu TBD)

Kai means ocean in both Hawaiian and Japanese (海, one of the many kanji for "kai," means ocean).

Although the ocean separates the two island entities of Hawaiʻi and Japan, their respective cultures are connected in numerous ways, including through the foods sourced from the ocean and the dishes made with them.
